Your FASTag sends toll alerts and one-time codes to the registered mobile number, and it must be linked to the right vehicle number. Both matter more in 2026: banks must check the vehicle number on every FASTag and blacklist tags linked to a wrong or invalid number.
Mobile number
If you changed your number, update it so you keep getting deduction alerts and codes. You can do it through SBI’s FASTag portal (fastag.sbi.bank.in) or customer care, which will verify you and the vehicle, or send us the details on WhatsApp and we handle it.
Vehicle number
If the tag shows the wrong vehicle number, for example a tag bought before the registration number was issued, it must be corrected. Keep the RC ready. Since April 2026 banks blacklist tags that are linked to a wrong or invalid vehicle number, so do it before it causes a problem at a toll plaza.
Documents to keep ready
- Vehicle RC.
- The owner’s identity document (a masked Aadhaar, driving licence, voter ID or passport).
- The new mobile number, which must receive a code.
How we handle it
WhatsApp 90420 10180 with the vehicle number and what needs changing. We tell you our service charge on WhatsApp before you pay anything.
